2015 is an extremely crowded year for movies and one of two things is sure to happen; it will be the best 12 months of all-time at the box office or there will be A LOT of flops. However, if there are three releases you can pretty much guarantee will be a massive success, it's The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Batman/Superman and Star Wars Episode VII. At this point, we know very little about any of them. Plot details are scarce and only a handful of casting decisions have been made. What we do know is that three brilliant filmmakers are attached to these projects; Joss Whedon, Zack Snyder and J.J. Abrams. So, while they may still be a while away as of yet, we'd like to know which of these movies you think will be the most financially successful. After all, if you're correct, that will definitely give you bragging rights on this site a couple of years from now...

The fanboys said MoS would hit a billion. They don't know what they're talking about. This is pointless.

This is a tough one. I think the novelty of batman and superman on screen together will make for a huge opening weekend. Will it have legs? I like Man of Steel, but Snyder has trouble with the critics and some of the general audience.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Pollwise, Superman/Batman will win. Reality wise, Avengers 2 will take the cake that year.

I know, I know, I'll get letters.

@TheGreatChum

dude, Fantastic Four and Ant-Man won't come anywhere near the box office of the 3 movies listed in the poll. that year is going to come down to DC vs Marvel. if the box office draw of Superman and Batman beats Avengers 2, which will most likely out-earn the original Avengers movie, than it basically guarantees that the JL movie will wind up as the highest grossing movie ever.

1. The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is the sequel to a commercially successful, highly critically praised, $1.5 billion dollar movie that's arguably regarded as the best CBM of all time.

2. Man Of Steel 2 aka Superman/Batman is the sequel to a critically panned, moderately BO successful movie based on the most famous superhero of all time.

Yeah, number 1 ;-) is gonna make the most money

Joss Whedon and Zack Snyder are not genius filmmakers.

To be a genius filmmaker, you should have at least one original film not based on anything and you know....be able to make good films

The MCU is at an all time high. The GA loved Iron Man 3, my vote goes to the Avengers.

wow such a great box office battle. you've got the ultimate sequel's sequel in A2. A never before seen, real life team-up between the two biggest heroes of all time in BvS, and the kick-off to a brand new series in the franchise that started summer blockbusters with eVII.

It will truly be a summer "unlike any other" and it will take the combined might of the avengers to topple these beasts of movies!

Last year, this polls made Man of Steel the most succesful movie to be released in 2013 over Iron Man 3. Guess it didn't happen that way. Wouldn't be surprised if SupesVSBatFleck wins this poll. I say it's gonna be between A:AOU and SWVII

had to vote avengers. they're the hot ticket right now and have 3 more movies worth of momentum to build from.

Batman/Superman should make way more money...

but considering the last two films were complete shit from both parties, it's not likely.

Shit films.

This article has without a doubt been posted before. How bout you fanboys stop worrying about 2015 and focus on next?

Also the answer is Superman/Batman. Anyone who thinks no is an idiot. Avengers 2 will be good but doesn't have the magic as the first one in the sense you are seeing them for the first time. Superman/Batman has that for seeing them together for the first time.

Star Wars could be 2nd but you never know.

Serenity, an original idea from Whedon, didn't make alot of money at the box office but it received high critical reception.

Thats a tough call. I didn't think there would be any challenge to the Avengers sequel after seeing the slow drip of shoddy info about a 'Justice League' movie making it seem like it wouldn't solidly get off the ground. A Superman/Batman flick if done well could easily match it at the box office. As for Star Wars, its got franchise strength AND DON'T FORGET, EACH OF THE DOUBTERS WILL SEE IT ANYWAY because its friggin Star Wars and we're all hoping deep down to see it go well. One good trailer and I'd say its a dead heat.

For Star Wars it depends. If its like 3 or the originals, yea billion.

I need some news on it. Who's the villain? The plot? The crew?

Sage, Serenity is based on Firefly.

Yes, he created it for TV but what I'm saying is taking an original idea and translating it completely on film (I.E. having to establish characters, plots, etc. in that film alone without any assistance from prior material)

I gotta agree with you here man, like Sage said "2. Man Of Steel 2 aka Superman/Batman is the sequel to a critically panned, moderately BO successful movie based on the most famous superhero of all time." and The fact that Snyder is not a fan-favourite among critics and the general audience. We'll see.

When Star Wars came back, made a billion.

When you saw Avengers for the first time, billion.

With inflation 02 Spider-Man made a billion.

People love Batman and Superman and everyone wants to see them together for the first time.

There's a certain magic about the first time. Think of the first time you saw Michael Jordan in a game or seeing your first football game or something for first time.

That's what Superman/Batman has and Star Wars & Avengers 2 doesn't.

All 3 will make a billion but S/B has that first time glow that everyone would want to see. There are no bigger heroes than this 2.

Ok I'll play. I know its pointless, but I'll do my part to generate revenue.

2015 Box Office predictions:

#1 overall - Star Wars.
#2 Avengers.

Reviews will play a role in this. SuperBats could easily take 2nd if critics praise Afflack AND the story is tight.

The Avengers will rely on Marvels ability to maintain its quality in the films it presents between now and then, and GotG will be just as important to it as Thor and Caps sequels.

Star Wars could fall below #1 with bad reviews, but I think that's unlikely. Everyone wants to see Lucas' grand illusion completed, and faith is blind. It took years for most to admit I-III sucked overall.

thewonderer - 9/3/2013, 11:35 AM
LMAO at Avengers will be a better movie.

Newsflash. The Star Wars Original Trilogy shits all over Avengers. If JJ can capture even 1/10th of that trilogy, Avengers won't come near.

Let's see if Whedon even bothers writing characters other than Iron Man for Avengers 2
