A new Joker: Folie à Deux TV spot again teases the twisted romance between Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) and Lee Quinzel (Lady Gaga) as Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime - possibly - has the last laugh...

A new TV spot for Joker: Folie à Deux has been released and it features more new scenes from the upcoming DC sequel. There are plenty of intriguing never-before-seen shots here, with the focus still on Lee's twisted love for Arthur Fleck, her Joker.

The movie, which arrives in theaters just over one month from now, is the only DC title being released this year and was developed before DC Studios took charge of the wider DCU franchise. Regardless, we expect it to feature the "Elseworlds" banner and Warner Bros. no doubt hopes it will be as big a hit as 2019's Joker.

Very early box office tracking has suggested it could open with as much as $120 million - $150 million in North America. While not quite up there with Deadpool & Wolverine's $211 million debut in July, we'd say Joker: Folie à Deux stands a chance of cracking $1 billion.

"The goal of this movie is to make it feel like it was made by crazy people," director Todd Phillips recently said of his approach to the sequel. "The inmates are running the asylum."

"Most of the music in the movie is really just dialogue," the filmmaker added. "It’s just Arthur not having the words to say what he wants to say, so he sings them instead. I just don’t want people to think that it’s like ‘In the Heights,’ where the lady in the bodega starts to sing and they take it out onto the street, and the police are dancing."

Check out this newly released TV spot for Joker: Folie à Deux in the player below.

Joker: Folie À Deux finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that's always been inside him.

The sequel stars Joaquin Phoenix once again in his Oscar-winning dual role as Arthur Fleck/Joker, opposite Oscar-winner Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born). The movie also features Oscar nominees Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Catherine Keener (Get Out), alongside Zazie Beetz, reprising her role from Joker.

Phillips, who was nominated for Oscars for directing, writing and producing Joker, directed Joker: Folie À Deux from a screenplay by fellow Oscar nominee Scott Silver & Phillips, based on characters from DC. This follow-up was produced by Phillips, Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Joseph Garner. Lady Gaga served as music consultant.

Joker: Folie À Deux arrives in theaters on October 4.

Enough already. I’m more excited about seeing The Penguin than I am anything Arthur Fleck related.

@TheNewYorker - the Penguin. really? a series developed from another lame-ass batman movie which is so "grounded" that it was boring as stale sh1t.
Yup. Can't wait for another Penguin's sh1t.

Arthur on the other hand....unique take. It's grounded but no need for a batman because this elseworld's film is great.

@TheNewYorker - It’s funny, I’m the exact opposite.

My friends and I are really looking forward to Joker.

I didn’t really like The Batman, so the Penguin show just seems like more fat on a bloated whale. To me 😉

I wonder just how effective Arthur’s laughing condition will be this time?.

I felt it was overused and a bit too relied on in the first one and hopefully that’s not the case here as it is.

I do like the “ Manson Girl” take they are doing for this version of Harley.

You know....
the people who are b1tch1ng about this film are the same, lame-a$$ losers who griped about the first film (which made over a billion+ on a 55-million budget) and got crow shoved in their face.
however, every line they post is the same since back to 2019 before the original's premiere.

Seriously. Get a better life.

@lazlodaytona - honestly, it's one of those movies where social media weirdos complain about it non-stop as loud as they can for no real reason.

But if people can praise , why can’t they complain ?

It goes both ways.

You know what would be a real twist? If at the end of this movie it's revealed that Arthur is actually the Arthur from the 1981 "Arthur" movie with Dudley Moore who lost all his money and went nuts as a result (that, and all the drinking), which, as it turns out, was actually a WB film. Coincidence? I think not!

@StSteven -

If any studio or filmmaker had the balls to do something cool and unexpected like this , it would be amazing.

I think the closest we got was when we found out Split was in the same universe as Unbreakable, and we got that crossover (which was underrated in my opinion).

@MisterDoctor217 - Oh, yeah, totally agree. I was really just joking but in all actuality I think that if a studio can do those little nuanced connections it actually builds a larger universe, which while lost on the GA is always appreciated by the hard-core fans.

And regarding "Split", I was totally "mind-blown" when that happened, but at the same time it made total sense the way that M. weaved it all together (and, yes, I agree that it was underrated). He managed to create a sort of connected universe that's WAY more grounded and realistic that anything that the MCU or DCEU have done so far by focusing mainly on the characters. Now, that's not everyone's cup of tea, and there a lot of folks who like all the *pew pew* (myself included), but sometimes it's cool to be able to look at the whole idea of superheroes and supervillains through a different lens, which is what I think he provided with those movies.

Yeah haha I know you were joking but it’s such a good and intriguing idea !!

And yes I 100% agree, maybe lost on the general audience but cinephiles would have a ball.

And yes I really liked M. Night’s grounded and psychological approach to the universe!! And even tho we kinda get confirmed in the end that super humans exist , I still think, the way he left it open, there’s still an argument about it being all in their minds.
That’s what made the movie so cool in my opinion.
I don’t think it was as bad as it was made out to be.
Sure wasn’t one of his best movies but I really liked what he was going for and the way he shot the movie.

@MisterDoctor217 - K, cool. Sometimes my sense of humor can get "lost in translation" unless I make it really obvious that I'm joking, so I never know how many folks take me seriously (such is the internet).

Yeah, it's been a while since I've seen "Unbreakable, "Split", and "Glass", but as I recall they all kind of leave the door open that those 3 guys weren't actual superheroes/supervillains, and that it was all in their heads, which is a very compelling (and underrated) idea. I mean, we've all heard stories about mom's who can suddenly lift a car off their kid and such under extreme duress. Plus, there's a lot in those movies that happens that can be explained by sheer coincidence, but McAvoy is definitely crazy and that's not a superpower (unless you're in politics 😉).

So we might see George Clooney's Batman in the 3rd one Joker Menage A Trois?
