The first trailer for Blumhouse's Halloween revival (it's technically not a reboot, but a direct sequel to John Carpenter's original) is set to scare-up the internet tomorrow, but in anticipation, another brief teaser has been released.


This time we have some actual footage from the horror flick, as the returning Michael Myers resumes his favorite pastime of slashing people up with a butcher's knife. We also get a few shots of Jamie Lee Curtis as the woman who'll be more than ready to stand in the way the rampaging maniac's new reign of terror, Laurie Strode.

@knocturnalzen10 - Me too! It also allows the franchise to not have to depend on Jamie Lee Curtis, which she's saying this is her last film. I'm sure they will want to do sequels.

@NegativeNerd - I heard this was a one off film with a resolution and closure to the Michael vs. Laurie arc.

From what I saw they wanted to eliminate the brother and sister element and make it as Michael having a vendetta against Strode and killing her is his closure and her killing him is her closure.

@knocturnalzen10 - Well eventhough this is a direct sequel to the original, it still isnt really random, considering he is going after the same woman he went after all those years ago. They may not be brother and sister anymore but its not random

I saw the original in the the theater as a kid..man had nightmares for weeks. I hope they end it with fun and dignity.

I'm pretty confident that the slasher films will extinguish before the super hero movies.

@HannibalLecter - Apples to oranges. Name a horror film that's hit a billion. Or that's had a $200 million budget.

Slasher films will continue to be made, specifically because they can be done with low budgets by inexperienced actors and crewmembers.

@HannibalLecter - To be fair there already aren't many actual slasher films being made. MOST of them died out in the 90's.

Most horror movies now are all lame ghost storie that aren't scary in the slightest.

Honestly, I feel like the last really great slasher movie was The Strangers.

If you want to scare people, present a scary situation like that, that could really happen to them. Even the Halloween or Friday the 13th movies can do it. Even though they had supernatural villains, it still presented a realistic situation of a maniac trying to kill you in a brutal fashion.

To me, that's more scary than silly ghost movies any day of the week.

@CorndogBurglar - Agreed, to be fair thouh it doesn't seen to be easy to make a truly suspenseful horror movie, moreso these days, my favorite horror movies are still The Descent, Rec and The Mist.

This is my second most anticipated movie of this year. I'll probably see this movie at least 3 times in the theaters. The daddy of slashers is back, baby!

I don’t get why we should be excited about this.

We’ve had a good sequel to the original with Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween 2.

We’ve had a bunch of sequels that build the mythology around him.

We’ve had a sequel where he tracks down old-lady Jamie Lee Curtis and kills her.

We’ve had a reboot that delved into the psychology of him as a serial killed and his relationship with his family.




So what is this doing that’s new?

In fact, wasn’t it the second Halloween movie that she finds out she’s his sister? In the first movie she was just a random babysitter. So if this is a direct sequel to the first one why would he be after her 40 years later?

I’m not against a Halloween film. Just do something even mildly original, otherwise what’s the point.

@connorblaze - The director said he wanted to explore the angle of Michael Myers from the first film so no relation to Laurie, no Cult of Thorn, etc. In a way, it is a reboot that just so happens to be a direct sequel to the original.

Superman Returns ignored 3 and 4 and was a direct sequel to Superman II. In horror, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 ignored the previous film and returned to Nancy in Part 3; and the Friday the 13th movies have ignored continuity is just about every sequel.

Love the Original, liked 2 before they removed it from continuity , thought H20 was OK, ......But! Now they've removed the Supernatural element he's just a guy in his 80's or 90's stumbling around, you'd smell him coming after he's pee'd himself, kick out his bum knee, if anything it's made it more ridiculous.

@ARMUS - I think Nick Castle, the guy behind the mask, is in his 70s. I get that he's old but perhaps this film is like Michael Myers' big send off.

There's something about Laurie strode looking confident about facing Michael that makes him less scary to me.
