No.

His personality doesn't allow him to be a villain. He's Peter's sidekick with no other defining personality traits.

Is he good with tech? I think.

Is he considered the funny kid? I believe so.

Does he have parents? Does he have a life outside of being Peter's sidekick?

When Harry transformed in the Rami trilogy, there was always an implied bitterness between he and Peter. Hell, even the Webb Harry had a bit of a darker side and trauma that would lead him to being the type that goes crazy. At this point, as good a comedic relief Ned is, he's not hobgoblin

But, I could be wrong. After all, I actually think the Birds of Prey trailer was good

I’d like this Spider-Man series to have more drama and character conflict. Homecoming and FFH are better than the Ant-Man movies for me...but they still have this happy-go-lucky breezyness that doesn’t harp on the character drama that comes with being Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

Everything is given to Peter. The one thing he’s earned was becoming an Avenger. He doesn’t have to get a job, or earn money on the side to help support Aunt May, the bully at his high school would be laughed at and ridiculed at any real modern school.

Just hoping for more pathos to a lot of the characters in these movies. Give me more drama, lay off the high school shenanigans.

For a Harley Quinn movie, BOP looks like it could be great in that regard.

Never really knew the BOP either but I could see why fans of those characters wouldn’t like the trailer.

It looks good, though.

That ain't no Ned, and that ain't no Betty. More like Ganke and Gwen.

I get the feeling they are going to fridge Ned or have him and Peter go through a pretty bad falling out, because there's not many more places to go with his character.

Ned is going to be Aunt May’s next boyfriend confirmed.

I know it’s not nice to body shame but this actor is soooo overweight it’s distracting and takes away from story and character for me. Could you really take him seriously if he “suited up” as a villain? I know they’re going for diversity and representation but casting this actor was an impractical choice and limits what they can do with the character. Sorry in advance if I’m offending anyone.

If they make Peter and Ned fall out with Ned becoming Hobgoblin in a Harry esque way it's gonna be so heartbreaking. If they make it work of course.

They can go Ultimate style and do a cgi Hobgoblin. Maybe a more volatile version of the classic goblin formula Norman rests on Ned to work out the problems. The finalized formula Norman uses on himself is less Hulk, more Super soldier.

If they do Hobgoblin, it won't be in the classic sense. We've already seen "best friend becomes a villianous goblin" twice, and despite this not being Harry Osborn this time around, it would still have the same feeling. If Marvel attempt Hobgoblin, it'll be some sort of misdirect or maybe even a good guy. Although, I'm hoping for some kind of fun easter egg.
