The second episode of Moon Knight hit Disney+ last week, and and Marvel Studios has now shared a new promo poster featuring the dapper Mr. Knight.

The streamer has been taking a rather unconventional approach to its weekly character banners for this latest MCU show (we've had a goldfish, a scarab, and a... nametag!), but we can't complain too much if they also intend to debut stylish artwork like this over the course of the season.

Some fans have taken issue with how Mr. Knight has been depicted, since he's not actually a completely separate persona of Marc Spector's, instead materializing when Steven Grant "summons the suit." It is a pretty significant change, but hardly surprising when Moon Knight is already switching between two distinct personalities (with a third on the way).

Critics seemed to be impressed by the first four episodes (you can check out my verdict here), and while not everyone was won over, the show currently sits at a very respectable 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Moon Knight follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

The limited series also stars Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directed the episodes, with Jeremy Slater on board as writer.

Didn’t love his introduction but it’s early. A lot of show left.

that looks so [frick]ing good.

I love the show so far, changes and all but it's been great, love how the Egyptian mythology's been treated and how this is just one door to the supernatural side of Marvel, and Jesus there's more coming.

Casting's terrific, but man Oscar and Ethan Hawke are just a DELIGHT to watch bouncing from each other, glad that Hawke did a 180° regarding the superhero genre and gave it shot, he looks like he is enjoying his character and he had a blast filming it. Oscar's been phenomenal and I'm so happy he had his redemption shot with a character like MoonKnight. so [frick]ing happy, he deserves it.

It's very bittersweet to have Disney involved with and owning Marvel Studios. On the one hand, Disney has helped Marvel become the juggernaut it is, and it's likely we wouldn't have nearly the amount of live-action comic book representation if Disney wasn't funding everything. Without Disney, some of the best marvel films like Endgame and Infinity War wouldn't have been possible (or at least, they would have been considerably smaller in scale). Without Disney, No Way Home isn't possible, and Spidey likely would still be having solo adventures in the Sony-verse without any hope of interacting with the greater marvel universe.

All that is to say, I appreciate what Disney has been able to help Marvel Studios achieve. But with Disney's involvement comes a price, and that is making properties like Moon Knight family-friendly (I mean, they already have a Moon Knight walking around and greeting children at Disneyworld). I'm not saying I dislike the series so far (actually, it's pretty good, all things considered). But I would have liked to see a Moon Knight series that doesn't hold back and doesn't feel the need to punctuate pivotal moments (like Mr. Knight's introduction) with jokes and the whole "bumbling hero" trope.

I'm giving the series the benefit of the doubt that what we saw was just Steven's version of Mr. Knight that will evolve, but it did rub me the wrong way a bit, as someone who is a huge fan of the Mr. Knight stuff in the comics and how the personality juxtaposes Moon Knight while retaining his intensity.

Sorry for the rant, but this is one of the few places I'm able to have these kinds of discussions without alienating myself too much. I love Moon Knight, and I'm stoked to see this series through. I just wish he was a bit less Disney-fied.

@SheepishOne - lol all that ranting and didn't say anything. Lots of misunderstandings

@Dope21 - What did you misunderstand?

The TLDR is, I acknowledge we probably wouldn't be getting the series at all without Disney, but I also wish Disney wouldn't place as hard of a Disney stamp on the source material.

Episode 3 probably going to be a flashback to when Marc got his powers in Egypt the first time. Or at least part of the ep will be that
