Marvel Studios has decided to forgo traditional character posters for Moon Knight, instead opting to go with an assortment of props from the Disney+ series. This time, that mysterious Scarab is the centre of attention, though we're not surprised when it's already proven pivotal to the show's plot.
We've learned that Arthur Harrow needs the Scarab because it's a compass that can point him to the tomb of the crocodile goddess Ammit. Unleashing her means the Egyptian God can "rid the world of evildoers," wiping out those who will do wrong before they're even given the chance to do so. Needless to say, this presents a Minority Report-style moral quandary!
In the comics, Kang the Conqueror uses a number of artefacts to travel through time, including a Scarab. When the villain found himself trapped in Ancient Egypt, he became the Pharaoh known as Rama-Tut, and it would be very surprising for Moon Knight to not reference that in some way.
It's entirely possible Marc Spector will be among those tasked with stopping Kang in the MCU, and during a recent interview with Collider, director Mohamed Diab teased the hero's future.
"[Marvel] keep expressing every day, how much they love the show, but it's not like any other show, meaning on the other show, outside the Marvel universe," he said. "Meaning any TV series, if it's good, you know that you're going to get a second season, but one WandaVision was great. And you didn't get a second season, you went to something else. So what I'm absolutely sure of is that Moon Knight is staying, staying for a long time, in my opinion. That's just a prediction."
