We're now two episodes into Moon Knight, and if this TV spot is any indication, there are plenty of surprises still to come. This sneak peek even shows what could be the moment Marc Spector was resurrected by Khonshu, as we see the bloodied mercenary suited up in front of both the Egyptian God and what appears to be his statue.

If you're familiar with the comic books, then we're sure you'll know that Marc was left for dead by Bushmaster after standing up to the unhinged villain while on a mission in Egypt. It was then that Khonshu appeared before him, offering the mercenary the opportunity to live, providing he'd become his avatar and enact vengeance on those who have done wrong.

Another nod to the source material comes when we see poor Steven Grant in a mental asylum; in Jeff Lemire's superb Moon Knight run, Khonshu imprisoned Marc inside an asylum he created within the hero's mind. Why? He wanted to wipe away what remained of Marc, Steven, and Jake Lockley so he could use their body as his own and return to Earth.

"Oscar Isaac puts Moon Knight on the map in Marvel Studios' most daring TV show yet," we said in our review of the show's first four episodes, "ushering in an unmissable new era of storytelling in a series that, if it sticks the landing, could go down as a classic."

So EPIC

I wonder how much they spend on Moon Knight

This show latterly looks like a big budget movie

@WakandaTech - I do agree but some of the CGI is very TV Network looking at times. Especially his cape. But overall the show is such a fun ride. And I love the dynamic between Marc and Steven and love how the suit just doesn't form to save him. It has to be under strict requirements.

I was hoping for more like a Batman type Moon Knight from the comics

With Gadgets and the Mooncopter

But this one from the MCU could be pretty badass too

@WakandaTech - I dunno if I'd be able to buy in like I currently have if he was just a white Batman. I currently am obsessed with this show. But I'm unaware in regards to Moon Knight. Im the casual audience member when it comes to this char, so I have no preconceived feelings regarding what they are doing. I'm really interested in hearing what the diehard Moon Knight crowd thinks of this show when all is said and done simply out of curiosity.

@McMurdo - well I mean moon knight from the comics is really only similar to batman in terms of equipment and costumes. A good way to think of him as a character is a cross between Affleck batman and the punisher.

@Origame - yes I'm learning as much. I quite like the Egyptian Indiana Jones angle possibly because we haven't gotten such iconography in a comic book property on this level that I can remember.

Moon Knight has been a nice surprise by Marvel Studios. Looks like another hit for Marvel. All the Marvel Disney + shows are my favorite.

I've been loving how it's not connected to anything else, it's a nice change

@BigBoiJoe - huge. So huge what that can do for a character piece. And good on Feige for allowing this to be the case.

Skipping this trailer, man MCU on D+ is off to a great start this year. I hope I like the other shows as much. Moon Knight rocks

This show has been great so far. Really gives off a Memento with the whole mystery aspect.

@ModHaterSLADE - hmm interesting comparison I see it. I hope it all keeps up in this regard. It'd be awesome if the Jake personality actually does come into play cuz Isaac is dominating the roles and throwing a 3rd in the mix would be nuts.

VERY pleasantly surprised with Moon Knight.

Up there with Loki so far.

@Fogs - I refuse to compare until it's done, but Wandavision was up there with Loki IMO. Loki is easily the best but still.

Loving Moon Knight so far. Never read the comics so it's been a great surprise.

Can anyone recommend a/some good runs from the comics to jump into?
GhostDog
GhostDog - 4/8/2022, 3:52 PM
@breakUbatman - The Charlie Huston run, Jeff Lemire, Warren Ellis, and Hurwitz for some good modern takes.

Classic: The Moench late early 80s and late 90s run. Not talked about enough.

Dennis O'neil did some writing on this too

@breakUbatman - I've just read Volumes 1-5 starting with 'The Bottom'

I'm not sure what the general consensus on them is but they're relatively recent runs that I enjoyed. There are quite a few appearances from mainstream Marvel characters though so depends what you're after

Just throwing this out there: Oscar Isaac as Kal-El/Superman
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 4/8/2022, 6:11 PM
@Blergh - I can't believe I'm saying this but [frick] it, I think Superman is way too one note of a character for Oscar Issac if that makes ANY sense at all. I love him in Moon Knight because we are literally watching this man stretch him act prowess, and with a character that has multiple personalities there's practically limitless possibilities for personalities he could embody even beyond that which exist in the MK comic mythos.

For Superman I just want as accurate a portrayal as Evans did with Cap,not that Oscar can't do that, on the contrary that man can do anything. But I want to see him do these unique complex characters that will challenge his abilities.
