The first Captain America: Brave New World clip has leaked following yesterday's"Disney Entertainment Showcase panel at D23 and it sees Harrison Ford's President Ross attempt to rebuild The Avengers...

The D23-exclusive trailer for Captain America: Brave New World leaked online last night and offered our best look yet at Harrison Ford's Red Hulk (you can check it out here if you missed it).

Now, we have a clip from the movie which sees President "Thunderbolt" Ross pitch Sam Wilson, the MCU's new Captain America, on the idea of rebuilding The Avengers (as expected, it appears the team hasn't reassembled since the events of Avengers: Endgame).

Sam reminds the Commander in Chief that he was the one who tore Earth's Mightiest Heroes apart with the Sokovia Accords, but Ross is keenly aware that he now represents the whole of America. He also acknowledges that half of them wouldn't be there without The Avengers, a nod to the Blip and Iron Man's heroic sacrifice.

"What did it take? It took not caring," Ford recently said of transforming into Captain America: Brave New World's Red Hulk. "It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before."

"I don’t mean to disparage it," he added on a more serious note. "I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do - or your acting coach, if you had one. But it’s fun, and I enjoyed it. I had a great time, and I’m delighted at the response that we got with the trailer.”

Anthony Mackie added at the time, "He’s Harrison f*cking Ford. There is this aura about him. But he dispels that really quickly because he’s such a cool guy. He’s everything a movie star should be. He would say, ‘Let’s shoot this piece of shit.’ And everybody was like, ‘Yeah, let’s shoot this shit.'"

Check out this new Captain America: Brave New World clip below.

After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, with Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford.

The movie is directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore. Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serve as executive producers.

Captain America: Brave New World opens in U.S. theaters on February 14, 2025.

Looking forward to this one. Either Hulk or She-Hulk will have to help Sam. There is no way he can even remotely hurt a Hulk.

@SonOfAGif - Yeap. And I'm pretty sure Bruce is gonna snap because of smth Rulk does and become savage again.

@Fogs - I'm thinking that She-Hulk will help Sam because she was indirectly responsible for the Hulk DNA being taken. And Red Hulk seriously injures her and Sam and Bruce goes savage mode.

@SonOfAGif - Hawkeye defeated a Hulk more than once in the comics as have others without powers so can be done. I would be surprised if he doesn't at least contact banner but if there is an antidote to whatever is used to transform Ross into Rulk Sam could keep him busy whilst Red Wing or Sabra do a sniper shot with an adamantium dart to administer it...

...not saying that IS how it will go down, he may not need to defeat Rulk at all and just bring him to his senses as that isn't the main antagonist and the Generals daughter could factor into that.

Course, we all likely want a Hulk on Hulk fight of some sort and it could very well happen, just isn't the only way it could go down.

@SonOfAGif - I dont think we see Hulk, Red Hulk has a pretty major flaw that can be exploited. The madder he gets, the hotter he gets, and the weaker he gets. All Sam has to do is fly away from him until he burns himself out.

Interesting…

I have this theory that Ross is perhaps dying and after EG did come to realize that the world is better with the Avengers there hence him trying to reform them as he said in the clip to make amends.

Perhaps the medication he’s been taking for this hypothetical illness is sabotaged by The Leader and thus the reason he becomes Red Hulk?.

It looks better than expected but I'm still pushing my expectations back down. Trailers can be deceiving, and even as trailers go it was OK. I hope it's good.

@EgoEgor -
This clip was a mess.

• The Sokovia Accords were not passed by Thunderbolt Ross, they were put into power by someone else.
• The Sokovia accords don't stop the existence of the Avengers, it merely requires them to report to someone.
• Thunderbolt Ross merely acted as an intermediary to contact the Avengers, he didn't sign them into power.
• The Avengers are still around, despite barely appearing, we saw them in the post-credits of Shang Chi.

The clip was inaccurate and sloppy, it feels contradictory to the continuity we've been following. It's as if it's written by someone who did not watch the MCU.

@Scarilian - While they accords weren't passed by Ross, he was in full support of them and enforced them rigidly, even when they weren't the right thing to do (like when Tony presented evidence of Zemo and Ross personally shut him down).

The Sokovia Accords were responsible for tearing the Avengers apart.

While individual members of the Avengers are still around, there is no team anymore.They disbanded after the Battle of Earth.

"While they accords weren't passed by Ross, he was in full support of them and enforced them rigidly"

He sorta enforced them a little, but he actively dropped that the second when he was confronted in Infinity War and clearly didn't care enough about it to enforce it as he never led anyone after Bucky following Civil War - the post-credit scene implying they would chase Bucky to Wakanda leading to nothing.

"The Sokovia Accords were responsible for tearing the Avengers apart."

Nope, the unresolved issues of the team including Tony Stark's arrogance and guilt from the events of Age of Ultron and Steve's inability to keep his emotions in check (Resulting in him recklessly pursuing Rumlow) resulted in the conflict. This conflict continues throughout the movie as Steve and Tony's emotions class.

The Sokovia Accords are a thinly veiled excuse that Tony and Steve can use to project their own insecurities and problems with how the world is.

"While individual members of the Avengers are still around, there is no team anymore.They disbanded after the Battle of Earth."

That idea wasn't hammered in enough, especially with Wong taking Shang Chi to the Avengers in the post-credit of Shang Chi. As far as fans go, everyone just thought they were going back to normal life for a bit.

It'd be utterly retarded for the Avengers to just stop helping out, especially after the Blip caused untold chaos on the world, it paints the Avengers so negatively if that is the case.

HOTSHOT - 8/12/2024, 2:55 AM
@Scarilian - He was still trying to enforce them in Infinity War and Rhodey just hung up on him, leading to him getting court marshalled. Then y'know, half of all life ended and they had bigger concerns.

Why would they come after Bucky when they don't know he's in Wakanda? Here's the quote from Civil War

"You know, IF they find out he's here . . . they'll come for him."

While the characters' volitions were definitely the dynamite, the accords were the fuse. Same as the Registration Act in the comic book.

While they could've definitely expanded upon the Avengers being disbanded better, it was definitely still there. "Are the Avengers even a thing anymore?" "Now this is an Avengers-level threat" *no Avengers show up*

@HOTSHOT -
I view him acting as the intermediary between the Avengers and the governments of the world less as him passing the accords though. It makes no sense that a random barely developed general who turns up would have the legal power to make the accords happen, especially as Civil War emphasized that it was a larger issue.

The quote you mentioned was almost certainly intended to be set-up for another film as it was immediately followed by 'Let them try' being uttered by T'Challa - the notion being that we were gearing up for a conflict between Wakanda and the US.

In both scenarios, the Registration Act is poorly defined primarily as a result of the writers having no desire to define it, acting primarily as a plot device to push the more emotionally focused conflict. In the movies the accords are so poorly defined that the entire movie focuses around the idea of them speculating over how the accords would be applied - e.g. Steve speculating on if they'd be told where to go or have to wait for approval.

The meme of Avengers-level threat just feels like a running joke, a way of explaining that the hero of the piece of media is tackling a threat that is well beyond what they should be capable of. The Avengers not showing up when they should happened so much it was a running gag of Phase 2/3 which is why people were initially hyped for when Phase 3 started to have more of the characters cross over. I don't think the Avengers not appearing is enough for us to know they don't exist, especially when Shang Chi demonstrated a version of the Avengers is still around just investigating potential cosmic threats such as the bracelets calling something to Earth OR The Marvels making it clear that Captain Marvel is still in communication with Valkyrie.

I don't see how people can take this scene as anything other than Wong taking Shang Chi & Katy to meet Avengers members and effectively inviting/informing them that they are now part of the Avengers:

@grif -
They should really be rebooting with Fantastic Four, sure the casting is a mess, but a rebooted MCU set in a futuristic version of the 60's would be interesting to follow.

Brave New World and Thunderbolts are likely not going to perform well, Fantastic Four is going to be a mixed response, Avengers: Doomsday sounds messy and Secret Wars is going to be banking on cameos in the hopes people watch it.

@marvel72 - I found DP&W to be underwhelming but it's what's I expected to be honest. 6/10. I loved first one. Didn't care for the sequel and I think the overhyping of this spoilt it for me
