Deadpool and Wolverine continues to dominate the box office after five weeks in theaters.

Marvel Studios' outrageous crowd-pleaser has now reclaimed the No. 1 spot at the North American box office after taking in an estimated $4.8M on Friday (from 3,840 locations), bringing its domestic total to $563.70M. Disney/20th Century's Alien: Romulus has dropped to No. 2 with $4.5M as it moves into its second week on release.

Lionsgate's new take on The Crow took flight on Friday, but is not expected to make much of an impact. Following dismal reviews, the Rupert Sanders-helmed reboot is looking at a three-day opening weekend of just $4M-$6M.

The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-led superhero team-up movie recently passed Joker's lifetime gross to become the biggest R-rated film of all time, and it now looks set to jump past the Super Mario Bros. Movie to become the 16th highest-grossing movie ever in the U.S.

If Marvel/Disney wasn't planning a sequel already, you can bet they are now!

Check out our review of Deadpool and Wolverine here, and drop us a comment down below.

The MPAA gave the movie an official R-rating for: "Strong bloody violence and language throughout, gore, and sexual references."

“Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date - Deadpool & Wolverine," reads the new synopsis. "A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier... reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to - F*ck. Synopses are so f*cking stupid.”

In addition to Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the title roles, Deadpool and Wolverine will see Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), who will play a TV agent and Charles Xavier's evil counterpart, Cassandra Nova.

Shawn Levy directs Deadpool and Wolverine from a script by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.

Don't get too cocky because JOKER 2 is on its way and wants that top spot back! 🤡😀💜

@lazlodaytona - I don't think it makes anywhere to what the first one made.

@lazlodaytona - Joker 2 won't even make half of Deadpool & Wolverine.
Everybody i know who liked the first one isn't into musical numbers.
I also don't foresee many Livingstone Lady Gagas Performance as much as the one from Margot Robbie.

@MarvelZombie616 - it's been said over and over it's not a musical. Geez. Why doesn't that sink in with anyone?

@lazlodaytona - there's not much hype in this movie as there was on the first one.

@theprophet - actually. There wasn't hardly as much hype as the first one. Same as Logan.

Yet the reserved type approach worked for both films.

@lazlodaytona - Eh, D&W will end up making more than double what Joker made domestically. I don’t see the sequel doing that much better

For what it's worth I just saw Blink Twice completely blind and it's my surprise hit of the year. It's disturbing as [frick] but it was an original concept that really goes bat shit insane. Props to Zoe Kravitz, what a top notch directorial debut. If you see this movie, go in blind. Don't even watch the trailer, just expect a psychological horror movie that builds and builds until the dams break! 4 stars, check it out

@ThorArms - most thought JOKER 1 wouldn't do anything and then it set the record of highest rated R film ever (inflation is a b1tch).

However. It's not about how much money the films make. DP&W needed cameo after cameo to super succeed (don't get me wrong, I loved it). But how much did they spend on producing of it, payroll, and Marketing?

The original JOKER, while only costing a very small fraction the DP&W costed, was more successful because it turned a bigger profit .... especially on a very low budget.

Why don't people get this stuff?

@lazlodaytona - For me, the musical part is not a problem. Joker is an amazing movie, but I think that this is one of those movies that doesn't need a sequel.

I know that Todd Phillips can make a good continuation, but it would be better if he chose another character (Deadman or Question).

Besides all that, I'm also not a huge fan of movies about villains without heroes.

@lazlodaytona - Not even close. The first one was a Barbenheimer moment.

It will struggle to hit $500M at best.
ThorArms
ThorArms - 8/24/2024, 5:14 PM
@lazlodaytona - um. I do get that stuff. You didn't say any of that. All you said was joker is coming for the crown. I was responding to that, not anything in regards to profitability vs. Budget.

@lazlodaytona - Both movies cost around $200 million.

@ObserverIO - JOKER 1 didn't.. it didn't even cost 100 million. It simply cost $55 million with Phoenix (and Dinero) being the only high-cost stars are in film to pay.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 8/25/2024, 2:01 PM
@lazlodaytona - That's true, Joker 1 made more profit for sure.

@Ha1frican - lol

There’s barely any movies coming out in theaters for the next few months I feel so probably

It might even keep oscillating at No 1 or even the Top 5 till Transformers comes out (unless Beetlejuice does well which I’m not sure about).
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 8/24/2024, 11:57 AM
@Ha1frican - maybe even later. I could see them drop a christmag PG-13 movie in cinemas as well first
bobevanz
bobevanz - 8/24/2024, 2:37 PM
@Ha1frican - they realized this short day to date streaming idea wasn't working, people will see a movie if they have to wait long enough lol. Now they'll make it available to rent or buy before Disney+. Make that the last thing they do to really maximize profits. Movies are back! Well they never really left, [frick] streaming muahahaha
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 8/24/2024, 4:57 PM
@bobevanz - I think it’s going to be on a case by case basis for each studio, if something bombs like Borderlands just did it’ll probably get dumped to streaming to get something out of it asap but anything that makes money is going to have its normal run, then the digital and Blu-ray release after like 3 months, then Disney+, after like 2-3 more

This is a remarkable box office take considering that most Moms won't take any kids under the age of 15 or 16 to it. Dads are cooler. They'll take you to it if you promise not to tell Mom.
