Long-time Marvel Studios composer and Werewolf By Night director Michael Giacchino has confirmed that he will provide the score for The Fantastic Four: First Steps...

There were rumors that long-time Marvel Studios composer Michael Giacchino had been enlisted to work on the score for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, and we now have confirmation thanks to the man himself.

Giacchino posted some footage of the San Diego Comic-Con drone show, along with the caption: "I have some FANTASTIC News." The video was silent, but there's speculation that some earlier clips from the display (see below) may have given us our first taste of the movie's score.

In addition to providing the score for several MCU films, Giacchino directed the Werewolf By Night Special Presentation, and there are rumors that he's in line to helm the planned Midnight Sons movie (no confirmation at SDCC, unfortunately).

The SDCC panel revealed that the reboot has been given a new title - The Fantastic Four: First Steps - and the first teaser trailer was also screened for those in attendance. A leaked version did the rounds online shorty after, but probably won't be officially released.

It's a somewhat bizarre title, but there's speculation that it may refer to the introduction of Reed and Sue's children, Franklin and Valeria Richards.

Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, The Last of Us), will play Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning), will play Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, A Quiet Place Day One), will "flame on" as Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear), will play Ben Grimm, aka the Thing.

Julia Garner will debut as the Shala-Bal version of the Silver Surfer, while Galactus has also been confirmed as the main villain. He'll be played by Ralph Ineson (The Witch, Game of Thrones). Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Kevin Feige recently conformed that the movie will take place in an alternate universe, but we know that Marvel's First Family will appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, so we wouldn't be surprised if they find their way into the main MCU timeline by the end of this movie.

Shooting is scheduled to get underway tomorrow.

Matt Shakman directs The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.

My man Michael, did a Fantastic(no pun intended) on the Wolf movie.

I’m waiting for Marvel to give him a chance on a feature length.

Anyway, good choose to compose.

@THEKENDOMAN - he deserves it. He's made some of the best content in recent years outside of Guardians 3

When the drones did the F4 signal, there was smoke, reminiscent of the FF signal flare.

Cool , I like Giacchino…

If he can make a mixture of his Star Trek and Incredibles theme in terms of the feeling of adventure , heroism , exploration and optimism then I think we’ll be good!!.

Also i did think First Steps was an odd subtitle until they really seemed to emphasize the team as explorers so it could be a double meaning title like Homecoming where it’s not only about their first steps into the vast unknown of space or something but also their entry into the MCU.

Giachanno has two modes.

Lazy, generic doesent bother (Spiderman)

And Hits like the [frick]ing roof and composes a masterpiece (the batman, rogue one, planet of the apes, and the incredibles)

Please be the latter. Just this once.

@TheRogue -

Completely agree.

I’d add UP his bangers as well.

@TheRogue - I liked his Spider-Man scores. The remix of 60's theme tune was great and the Mysterio theme a banger.

I would use the rebooted Star Trek movies as an example of his lesser works.

@FinnishDude - To be fair I did like it in no way home. It came more melachonic and felt like it had more meaning. His vulture theme was great.

Nah I like star trek movies soundtracks, they are great. A little repetitive, but some really beautiful tracks.

@FireandBlood - Tony variant Doom, not so Silver Surfer, and Galactus in the space of 2 years*

@McMurdo - Your most hyped movie has Superman and his leather clad Super-Friends fighting Black Noir, so calm down on the “not so” rubbish. Gunn is giving us Nuclear Man 2.0

Nobody’s hyped for that

@FireandBlood - Speak for yourself about Gunn’s Superman. I am super hyped about it as are many on this site based on their comments. I am also excited for the Marvel characters you mentioned. I don’t pick sides.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 7/29/2024, 12:50 PM
@RolandD - It’s not about sides. I’m not going to pretend to be hyped about it, because I’m not. I’m sure it’ll be good, at the very least decent. But nothing Gunn is doing over there is really exciting, imo. And judging by the mixed response the stuff we have seen is getting, I can’t say that the hype that should be there is. A lot of that, of course, is down to WB’s decade long mismanagement of the franchise, though.

@FireandBlood - wait did I go full DC/Marvel culture War or was I on topic within the article?

I'll wait.
RolandD
RolandD - 7/29/2024, 1:03 PM
@FireandBlood - I agree about the mismanagement but again, plenty of users on this site seem to be hyped. There are also a lot of users here dissing everything that Marvel is doing if you want to talk about mixed responses. I’m not thrilled about RDJ playing Doom in any more than a cameo if he’s playing Tony Stark variant who is Dr. Doom but I am also willing to give them the benefit of the doubt because the Russos and RDJ have killed it in the MCU.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 7/29/2024, 1:45 PM
@RolandD - Are they dissing what Marvel is doing, or are they using Marvel as a proxy to fight their silly little culture war of white, male “oppression”?

But mostly, I’m just teasing @McMurdo. He Stan’s for anything Gunn.
RolandD
RolandD - 7/29/2024, 1:51 PM
@FireandBlood - Yeah, some of it is “their silly little culture war” and we know who we are talking about, but there’s plenty talking about a drop in quality too.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 7/29/2024, 1:58 PM
@RolandD - But we’re talking about 2-4 duds (arguably) out of 34. That’s not the same as the mess WB has made of DC. At best, it’s been a minor setback they’ve easily rectified with their latest offerings, which just goes to show how much of an effect those duds had on the general audiences perception of the franchise.

But the loudest dissenters had an ulterior motive, and we know full well what that was.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 7/29/2024, 2:11 PM
@FireandBlood - blaming racism is some giga copium. You can do better, bro. I've seen you do better. If you can't win an argument without the race card your credibility tanks especially when it's your go to means of refuting attacks against the stuff you enjoy and are a fan of. Whiteness has little to do with a white man and a white woman being cast as Doctor Doom and Silver Surfer.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 7/29/2024, 2:33 PM
@McMurdo - Hold on, now. Don’t jump the… Gunn.

I’m not blaming racism. I’m saying more often than not, the loudest dissenters have an ulterior motive that may and usually is, but not always or limited to, rooted in racism. There’s a lot of sexism, homophobia and just outright bigotry thrown in there too. But not only that, a lot of people’s issue with Marvel can stem from their general false outrage at Disney, and the outright hardship of them being a bigger fan of franchises that wish they only had 4 duds out of 34.

But it hards to take someone’s issue with RDJ as Dr. Doom or a female Surfer seriously when they’re A-okay 👌 with a poorly designed Superman fighting a Nuclear Man retread dressed as Black Noir with his leather clad, Arrowverse wannabe Super-Friends. Especially when that same someone spends half his time high off the copium he tries to push on others defending how badly those leather clad Super-Friends look 🥴
McMurdo
McMurdo - 7/29/2024, 3:13 PM
@FireandBlood - ah my guy but that's precisely what you are doing...whilst now throwing in your other *ism go to's when someone criticizes a MCU or SW property that you deem is being unfairly maligned because a vagina with a bit of melanin is involved. It's the tried and true. The gaslighting infused denial of such is just overwrought. At least own it.

And you really should consider finding a better rebuttal than Superman's wrinkly work shirt! Not a good faith rebuttal to compare Doctor Doom literally being cast with Iron Man with a Superman who in all intents and purposes is pitch perfect as Superman but has some folds in his wardrobe.

You've gotten desperate and in your desperation you've abandoned your principles for the sake of your fanboyism.

You called it "false Disney outrage" which is so peak @fireandblood and I love that terminology for you but you've resulted to the very notion you so claim to dismiss...... "False outrage" indeed.
