@Origame - How can they ruin a character they've barely acknowledged? We've had a few hints at Ben's existence throughout Spidey's MCU appearances and how his death probably inspired Peter to be a superhero, such as Peter saying in Civil War "When you can do the things I can do, but you don't, and then bad things happen, they happen because of you" and saying to Ned in Homecoming he doesn't want to scare May after "everything she's been through"

As for the suitcase, it was never treated like it was something of great sentimental importance - if it was they would've made more of an effort to highlight that when we first see it, and even then, luggage goes missing or gets damaged all the time when travelling abroad so that'd be a risk they'd have been aware of (maybe not to the extent that occurred in the movie with it literally being blown up, but then again they live in a world where aliens have invaded multiple times and half the population died for 5 years) - plus, given what actually happened, their focus was probably more on the fact that everyone got home safely and the sense of relief they had over that rather than on any given physical possessions. Like maybe they were a bit upset about the case (if you really want to get into it then May kinda making light of it at the end when she picked Peter up at the airport could've been her way of downplaying it so he wouldn't feel guilty) but overall they'd just be glad to be reunited and that no one was hurt.

Of course May then had the "Great Power" line in NWH, but that hasn't always been attributed to Ben anyway, and we don't know if that's even the first time Peter's heard it in the MCU - it could be the case that that's something Ben used to say to Peter in the past as he was growing up and May saying it to him was a way of reminding Peter of that when he was close to giving up on trying to save the displaced villains. It wouldn't be too difficult of a thing to retcon through some clever use of flashbacks, and a movie with Peter in a place where he's alone and has no one would be an appropriate place to have him look back on some key moments of his life, his journey towards becoming Spider-Man, and the people he's lost along the way.
