Elizabeth Olsen Believes SCARLET WITCH Is Dead But Hopes "[Smart] Writers" Can Figure Out Return

Elizabeth Olsen has admitted that she believes the Scarlet Witch died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but shares her hope to see the Avenger eventually return to the land of the living...

It seems the majority of fans agree that Marvel Studios made a major blunder by allowing writer Michael Waldron to take charge of the Scarlet Witch's story arc in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

WandaVision saw Wanda Maximoff's powers evolve to the next level following the creation of Westview's Hex; however, Waldron chose to then take the Avenger down a much darker path which saw her cause bloody chaos throughout the Multiverse in a quest to regain her sons, Billy and Tommy.

The Doctor Strange sequel ended with Wanda seemingly taking her own life after destroying every copy of the Darkhold across the Multiverse.

It was a fairly disappointing way to end her story, though we expect Agatha All Along to clarify her status - could Wanda be at the end of the Witches' Road? - and for the character to eventually return in the long-rumoured Scarlet Witch movie.

Jimmy Kimmel recently caught up with Elizabeth Olsen and asked if the hero-turned-villain really is dead.

"I think so. I assume as much. Yeah, and there was a red light of explosive energy. I think I'm dead," the actor admitted. "I would beg to leave a window open. I had so much fun doing these movies. I would like to figure out how to cleverly be undead."

"We need to find the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense. I'm open to ideas," Olsen added.

In the same conversation, Kimmel put it to the His Three Daughters star that the Scarlet Witch is arguably more powerful than Thor. "I think I am. I think theory has it that Wanda could beat him," she acknowledged. "I don't know...I've never played with the hammer, I don't think...yet. I don't know if that's happened actually."

Olsen added, "I think I could probably somehow manipulate and go inside his body to do the same thing he does."

As noted, the WandaVision story will continue in Agatha All Along later this week and then in Vision starring Paul Bettany. Rumour has it Olsen will return there, albeit as Virginia, the android wife of the Avenger. That would be an unexpected way to bring her back into the MCU, though it's the Scarlet Witch most fans are eager to see in action again.

@Clintthahamster - You have any idea how many retcons there were with the Scarlet Witch in the comics?

A number of times it didn't make much sense if you realy dug into it even when fun, and oft retconned to fix percieved issues, such as moving away from the idea of creating life JUST with magic which in some quarters as poorly recieved and adding more layers to it, which oft only made it more confusing.

So if you had read ALL of her comic appearances you would know it isn't as easy as you may think to pick which elements of the source to run with and how to make it land well in an understandable way for the GA as what works in print oft wouldn't in a film/series.

Esp considering how much they showed how the Darkhold corrupted multiple version of Doctor Strange in MoM yet many seem to have still failed to get why Wanda turned evil during the film. This isn't defending that film, there were issues with the writing even if overall I enjoyed it, just pointing out that getting it right isn't as easy as you may think it should be.

I mean , her fate in MoM was left deliberately open ended given the red flash we see as Mount Wundagore falls on her so it’s obvious that they still would like to keep her around…

Honestly , I’m not even fully buying that she isn’t faking her obliviousness because she might show up at the end of Agatha bit we’ll see.

Also Josh , seems odd to to say the majority of fans thought her direction in MoM was wrong when it was moreso 50/50…

I had my issues with her regression to an extent but I thought it worked well enough building off the end of WV where she’s in a vulnerable emotional state thusthe Darkhold corrupting her made sense.

Completely agree. They totally destroyed her character for no reason. They rewrote strange 2 to include her because of the hype of Wanda vision and it was a stupid decision, trying to cash in on the shows hype. No foresight whatsoever.
Which has basically been the entire problem post endgame without feige- no foresight

Reveal that she was never in her real body and she returns to her real body that's more ethnically connected to the character. Then you can reveal that Pietro is alive as well by the same means:

Jenna Kanell or Marisa Abela as Wanda
